FFFWeek Day 5, Part 2 - The Indie Designers' Showcase

I'm FINALLY resuming my coverage of Full Figured Fashion Week! Things have gotten so busy over the summer, and I've been meaning to post about the runway shows forever... Things have settled down a bit so I'm getting around to it at last!

It was really great to be in New York for this event. I am always so totally blown away by my fellow attendees' fashion, and this year was no different! It's also so wonderful to be amongst a community of like-minded and like-bodied women, even if it's only for a week!!!

I wore a fitted Adriana Papell dress with my Michael Kors purse, my pointy nude Marc Fischer pumps, and a chunky gold vintage necklace. I got my make up done at the Sephora at 7th and 34th, and my hair done at the Drybar on East 34th. Sonsi gave us an absolutely amazing FFFWeek Survival Kit at the beginning of the week, and in it (amongst lots of other super-awesome and useful goodies) was a gift card for Drybar, so I wanted to make sure I got my blowout in before my week in NYC was up! It was such a lovely experience and I was very happy with the results!

The Launch of EDIT by Jeanne Beker for Addition Elle

Hey Guys!

About two weeks ago, I was invited to the launch of the EDIT collection by Jeanne Beker at the new Addition Elle flagship store in Toronto. Having seen a great preview in the Fall, I was excited to see the full collection in the store and actually try on some pieces. I was a bit surprised as I thought there would be a more comprehensive offering of the samples I saw at the preview, but the pieces I did see were lovely. There were only about ten styles available, and I think that maybe some of the inventory didn't arrive at the store in time for the launch, which was really unfortunate. I definitely look forward to seeing more of the styles in stores as the Spring/Summer fashion season progresses!

Addition Elle Flagship Grand Opening

Hey All!

So on Wednesday, I got to attend the grand opening of Addition Elle's new flagship store at Queen and Yonge. It was really great to catch up with a lot of friends I haven't seen in a while! I've been so busy lately and it was great to finally have a chance to just relax and mingle a bit. We were invited to have a look around to see the changes Addition Elle has made, both in terms of their fashion and their in-store experience. I have to say that I'm very impressed. This seems like a completely different Addition Elle than the one I remember from a couple of years ago when I first started blogging. They have some great stylish pieces this season, and from what I've been hearing from the brand's execs, Fall '13 is going to be even more impressive. They were serving hors d'oeuvres and champagne, and Ashley Graham was there to chat with customers. Here are a few shots I took at the event =D

Blogger Dinner Party with Addition Elle in Toronto

Hey Guys!

So this past Tuesday, I was invited to celebrate with Addition Elle at a blogger dinner party commemorating the grand opening of their new flagship store at Queen and Yonge in Toronto. I wanted to wear an outfit from Addition Elle to the dinner, and I picked out this gorgeous coral lace bodycon dress and some great accessories. I also picked out my very first pair of designer shoes! I tried a bunch of different shoes that I really liked from Vince Camuto, Sam Edelman, and David Dixon, but I ended up falling hard for this pair by Ivanka Trump that came home with me :D

Ashley announced that she is coming out with her very own lingerie line to be sold in Addition Elle this coming November. Very exciting!

Hey Everyone!

It's been so busy around here, but trust me, I am still blogging, and still definitely working with other brands! Just because I have started my own initiatives does not mean that I don't support others. I strongly believe that plus size women NEED variety, and that more stores won't hurt the industry here, but help it. They will make more women interested in and invested in fashion. I don't shop exclusively from my own store, and I don't expect my customers to. Women love and need variety! I still want to bring you guys all the (unbiased) news about plus size fashion here in Toronto and in Canada generally because I think it's still hugely important, and I want women to be educated and informed about all of their options. It's why I got involved in the plus size industry here, and that hasn't changed one bit. I am still here to help you look and feel great in any way that I can. it has been a crazy couple of months, but I wanted to finally get around to posting about the event I attended with Addition Elle and EDIT by Jeanne Beker back in November.

It was a really lovely event at the Hotel Germain near the ACC. We got to meet and chat with Jeanne Beker, former host of the program Fashion Television, who told us more about herself and how she got involved in the fashion industry. We got a preview of her collection which will be offered at Addition Elle in the Spring. It is gorgeous line with really fresh, beautiful Spring colours like mint and coral. There was one leatherette jacket in mint that I fell head over heels for! Models came out in looks from the line, and the fit and fashion of each was totally on-point. I'm very excited about the collection and you should totally check it out.
