Review: Beautiful Gown from IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel‏

A while back, I got sent this beautiful gown from IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel‏. I've been so busy these past few months that I didn't get a chance to review it right away, but I thought I would share it with you all now!

The fabric of this dress is SO luxurious! The lace is a lovely, heavy-weight stretchy fabric, and the velvet feels amazing. I absolutely adore this burgundy colour (which I think works especially well on fair-skinned brunettes - hey, that's me!). I felt like old-hollywood all night long wearing this totally glamourous dress! I often chose IGIGI for formal events that I'm attending because I feel that the style and quality are exceptional and the dresses are cut with plus size women in mind (but avoid the usual dowdiness of plus size formal wear). You should definitely check them out if you have a formal event coming up!

#jeansdujour - A Girls' Night Out wearing Addition Elle Skinny Jeans!

Hey Guys!

It's #jeansdujour time again, and this time I am showing you what I wore for a night out on the town with my girls! I think this is one of my favourite #jeansdujour outfits so far! When I go out for a fun night out, I usually like to wear something a bit sexy, showing just enough but not too much! Skinny jeans are perfect for this. I just pair them with a fitted top (this one's nice cause it has a bit of a shine factor as well - bling, if you will...). I think these are also my favourite plus size fashion jeans that I've tried from Addition Elle this season (if not, then they're definitely in the top three!). They actually fit like a skinny jean and are fitted all the way from the thigh to the ankle, but they're really comfortable! I got a lot of compliments on this outfit while I was out, so that made me feel even more awesome than I already did after getting ready. What do you think?

#jeansdujour - Look At What I Can Do in Second Denim Yoga Skinny Jeans from Addition Elle!

Hey Everyone!

So it's #jeansdujour day, and this week I thought I would surprise you a bit! It's a little-known fact that I was a ballet dancer for many years. I stopped a couple of years ago because I didn't have enough time for it when I started grad school, but dance was definitely my first love growing up and something I still hope to go back to at some point once things are less busy! Anyway, because of my training, I'm still quite flexible. I just wanted to show you that this pair of plus size skinny jeans from Second Jeans available at Addition Elle can certainly keep up! There's definitely a reason why they're called Yoga Jeans. They are actually comfortable and non-restrictive enough to do yoga (or even ballet) in. They feel like yoga pants but look just like jeans. I could honestly wear these every day. They're so comfortable and cute.

I totally love these jeans and would even wear them to yoga or to dance class. Have any of you guys tried the Yoga Jeans? Aren't they awesome?!

#jeansdujour - Pumpkin Picking in Addition Elle's Fabulous MXM Skinny Jeans

So every year, Peter and I have a tradition that we never miss out on - we go to a pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkin! October is a special month for Peter and I because it's our anniversary. Fourteen years this year! Pumpkin Picking is just one of the small ways we like to celebrate together. Of course I wore my #jeansdujour, Addition Elle's MXM skinny jeans! I really like the cut of these jeans. I find that while a lot of plus size jeans say that they're "skinny", they rarely have the really fitted cut of skinny jeans for those under a size 14. But these are TRUE skinnies. They are fitted all the way down, from thigh to ankle, and I love the zipper detail at the ankle. Totally cute and comfy! What do you think???

Happy Mother's Day from Curvy Canadian and Penningtons

When I was a little girl, my Mom would always dress my sisters and I in the most adorable outfits, even if it was just to go and play with our friends outside. As I got older, I guess I some of that dressing well wore off on me (and what I like to wear now is really not a lot different from what my Mom dressed me in when I was just a kid, lol).

So this year, for Mother's Day, since my Mom is SO special and wonderful and deserving, I thought it would be really nice to return the favour and dress her for a change, so I contacted the wonderful people at Penningtons to see if they would help.

Well, they kindly agreed and provided an AMAZING Mother-Daughter Shopping Day for the two of us, which was so much fun, and so wonderfully generous! My Mom was smiling from ear to ear all day, and the wonderful staff at the Heartland Town Centre location in Mississauga made us both feel so special.

From the moment we stepped through the doors, Shyrna, the Assistant Manager, and many other wonderful members of her team, were so helpful and assisted us in finding items and making our shopping experience fun and comfortable. Shyrna had pulled several pieces from the Summer 2012 collection and pre-styled them into suggested outfits for us, which I thought was so nice and helpful!

We had our own rolling rack full of options to try on, and my Mom was feeling really pampered (and so was I, actually!). We perused the store's Summer collection and found so many pieces that were really pretty.

It was an absolutely fantastic day together that I'm sure neither of us will soon forget, and I have to give my heartfelt thanks to Penningtons for pulling out all the stops and providing a fantastic Mother-Daughter shopping spree day for us!

So I have to ask... I have my own personal favourites in terms of the outfits both my Mom and I tried on, but what are yours? My Mom and I have a little friendly bet going on which ones you'll all pick!
